Tensioned Cable Hardware - Provides a solid perimeter and support foundation to which all types of bird netting can be fastened.

Cable Guides - Hardware designed to keep the cable close to the installation surface and prevent gaps between the surface and the bird netting.

Sidewinders for Steel Cable Guides

Sidewinders self-drilling and self-tapping hardware are used as Cable Guides on both medium and heavy steel surfaces.
Sidewinders are made with high quality self-drilling fasteners and require no pre-drilled holes.
Sidewinders for steel cable guides manufactured in the USA.
#SWDR-1.5 is for steel up to 1/2” thick.
#SWD-2.0 is for steel up to 1/4” thick.
Install with the Sammy Socket Red Nut Driver to prevent break offs.

Sidewinders for Steel Cable Guides installation specs

Use as cable guides in thick steel surfaces up to ½” thick. This would include I-beams flanges, C-Channel, Purlins, tube steel, and more.
For steel up to 3/8” thick use the #SWD-2.0.
For steel up to ½” thick use the #SWDR-1.5.
Use the #Sammy Socket to install ALL Sidewinders.
For use as Cable Guides, install the sidewinders every 2 feet along the path of the Net Cables. Tighter spacing may be required on curved or complex surface shapes.
Make sure Cable Guide holds cable within 3/4” of the installation surface.
Make sure that all the holes in the Sidewinders line up with the path of the cable.

When and Where to Use Sidewinders for Steel Cable Guides:

The Sidewinders for Steel are designed to be used as Cable Guides in medium to heavy steel surfaces. Used with the tensioned perimeter cable systems used to secure bird netting enclosures and with overhead grid wire systems. Also used with our deer & perimeter fence to create support cables for fence posts.
Not for use on solid steel more than 1/2” thick. Not for use on hardened steel or red iron framing.

Sidewinders for Steel Cable Guide Installation Tips:

Always use the #Sammy Socket driver to install Sidewinders. This is specifically made to install the Sidewinders without over tightening (and snapping the head off the Sidewinder).
IMPORTANT: Always make sure the the surface will support the tension from the cable system. Do not attach corner hardware to surfaces in poor condition or where there is no structural support.
