HOW IT WORKS: EcoBird 14.5's actve ingredient is Methyl-Anthranilate or MA for short. MA is a US-EPA approved bird repellent, now available in an easy to use spray can. MA is a naturally derived, plant-based compound found in concord grapes, as well as many other fruits and flowers. Approved as “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), MA is also used as a common grape-flavored additive in chewing gum, candy, soda drinks, and Kool-Aid. When a bird inhales or ingests the MA, it irritates the trigeminal nerve in its beak causing temporary discomfort. It is completely harmless to the bird since the effects wear off when it leaves the area. Since it only affects avian biology, it does not have the described effect on people, pets, or other animals.
HOW TO USE IT: SHAKE WELL the more you shake it, more of the product will be released before the propellant runs out. Then, aim and depress the actuator with short 3 second bursts follow up with longer bursts as needed. The distance the EcoBird 14.5 can shoot the spray (approx. 20 feet) allows you to get the product easily applied to an elevated or other hard to reach spot location to repel the nuisance birds. It dries clear, and will not stain most surfaces. If concerned test it on a small area first. Reapply after 1 week depending on the persistence of the pest bird. Use to Repel Geese, Starlings, Pigeons, Woodpeckers, Grackles and all types of nuisance birds.
WHERE TO USE IT: The product is considered food grade, it can be used directly in and around busy areas, structures, eaves, rooflines, and anywhere there are nuisance birds. Under eaves and gutter lines to deter nesting starlings and swallows before they can build their nests. Anywhere a pigeon or other pest bird is perching, roosting or nesting. Can also be sprayed around a woodpecker hole on a tree or structure to safely repel these birds.
